FEW people will have grown up in Huddersfield in the 70s, 80s and 90s and not gone to Johnny's nightclub.

It was a favourite haunt for many over several decades with Johnny, Joe and the staff becoming friends with many. They were familiar faces, especially if people had been away at university or working and then returned to Huddersfield for a night out.

The brothers are grateful for the loyalty of thousands of people over the years and so, as is their nature, they have decided to give something back.

And what they are giving is a website packed with memories.

The hundreds of photographs on there give people the chance to glimpse into their past and, as we know only too well at the Examiner, nostalgia always has a place in our readers hearts.

People are always keen to relive the good times from years gone by.

The website is more than a snapshot of Johnny's 34-year history. It is an amazingly comprehensive archive that has taken countless hours to construct.

But it is, in a sense, living breathing history for Johnny and Joe want people to ‘fill in the blanks.’

There are many photographs that need names adding to them and people who remember those days with such fondness will no doubt be anxious and willing to chip in.

Johnny's was more than a nightclub. It was the town’s premier social institution for many years and there will be hundreds of married couples in Huddersfield who first met there.

Johnny and Joe have provided the town with a special gift which will provide people with many hours of happy memories and entertainment.

It is a legacy and it’s a lasting testament to the brothers’ naturally generous natures.
