THIS was a spirited performance by both sides but Swifts just had the edge to seal a tremendous victory.
Man of the match and top tackler Ronan Costello proved difficult for the hosts to put down scoring a hat trick in the first half. Frankie Unwin also broke through to score a great try before the end of the first half.
Swifts had the disadvantage during the second half of the up hill slope however they used it to their advantage with their speed to make some good yards. Costello was quick off the mark to score. Grafter Tom Alexander showed good ball skills managing to off load to Luke Ramsden so he could cross the line. Ronan Sylvester put in some solid yards and earned himself a great try. Ramsden used nifty footwork to notch his second try and Costello ended the victory with a brilliant fifth try.
Swifts had an excellent game in defence making it hard for Newsome to break their line. Top Tackler Nathan Taylor put in some key tackles and made some excellent yards and was unlucky not to score. Nathan and Ben Jessop had solid performances. Ben Lawton and Niall McClory made good yards.
Conversions came from Alexander, Costello, Ben Jessop, Unwin and Sylvester.
Swifts have had an outstanding season and ended on a high with a superb win.
