Rastrick pupils kick-started their fundraising bid for Sport Relief.

Rastrick High School pupils ran a mile in PE as part of the school’s support for the national sporty charitable campaign.

Events were underway before the day-long event due to mock exams and the school will also hold a day of events this Friday.

The fun kicks off at 8.45am with a non-uniform day and a theme of ‘Dress as your Favourite Sports Star’ with a prize for the best dressed person.

A giant Zumbathon takes place at lunchtime with local professional dancer Vicky Cooper leading the masses with some moves and grooves.

There is nothing like a bit of sporting rivalry and students will have chance to battle their teachers in a range of fun games and activities including a ‘Beat the Teacher Goalie’ and a Basketball shootout.

There will also be cake bakes and a staff netball match.

Louise Benn, Communication & Development Manager said: “Students and teachers at Rastrick High School love taking part in Sport Relief.

“We were really surprised to get a call from the people at Comic Relief to say that we were one of the largest fundraising schools in 2012, so are keen to make that happen again.

“It’s an excellent way to bring staff, students and the community together to get active, have fun and raise money for a great cause.”
