BOYS and girls have smashed the competition for six.

Youngsters from St Aidan’s School and Shepley First School won their groups in a kwik cricket tournament at Skelmanthorpe Cricket Club.

Twelve cricket teams from nine schools in the Shelley Pyramid took part in the series of under 9s matches, organised by schools sport co-ordinator Andy Morris.

Teams, which consisted of four boys and two girls, played four six-aside matches against other schools.

St Aidan’s won all four of their games against teams from Gilthwaites, Skelmanthorpe, Birdsedge, Cumberworth and Emley.

Shepley also won all their games against Thurstonland and Farnley Tyas schools, which both had two teams.
