New plans to extend trust school hours
FARTOWN: Proposals to extend the school day to allow more time for student assemblies are being discussed at North Huddersfield Trust School. Associate head teacher Janine Westmoreland wrote to parents recently consulting them on the proposal which would alter the finish time from 2.45pm to 2.55pm.The letter reads: “We have recently reviewed our tutor time and assembly provision in school and it was recognised that, through the very positive development of new structures and processes which now exist through the work of the Year Team, the value of good quality tutor time and assemblies is very much appreciated by staff and students alike. Tutor time and assemblies have greatly raised the profile of the work of the Year Team but the current time allocation does not allow for the highest quality assemblies to be delivered. We are proposing that tutor time is extended from its current 15 minutes to 25 minutes per day.” The proposed timings for the new school day would take effect from September.
