THE Wooldale Werewolf returned to Holmfirth last week when the Lydgate Mummers staged a special alfresco mumming play as part of Holmfirth Arts Festival.
Pupils from Lydgate Special School worked with musician Andy Burton and members of Holme Valley Sharing Memories to devise the traditional folk ‘Mumming’ play.
Head teacher, Martin Ord, said: “We first performed the play at Christmas but we’ve changed it slightly to make reference to the fact that we’ve moved into summer.
“It’s great to be able to revive an old tradition like this.”
Mumming plays are normally performed door to door with Mummers always appearing in disguise.
