WHAT a great idea to have a heritage trail and blue plaque scheme in Huddersfield.

It’s also one that’s long overdue.

How many of us have spotted the distinctive plaques on buildings across the UK and wondered why we don’t have any here.

We have to talk up our town – and this is one visible way to do it.

It’s time that our famous sons and daughters were highlighted. There are some obvious examples such as Harold Wilson and James Mason, but there are lots more and it’s vital that you, our readers, get involved in this.

We don’t want people complaining that someone has been missed months down the line.

Better someone was nominated several times than not at all.

So get involved and contact us with your suggestions for the Huddersfield Heritage Trail.
