RETIRED probation officer David Quarmby takes his guide dog Mick with him everywhere.

Except he’s now finding problems getting taxis. For despite the fact that it is illegal to refuse to take him and Mick, unless the taxi has an exemption certificate, more and more drivers are doing so.

David and his wife Jean say that many places such as cafes are getting better at allowing them in with Mick but not taxis.

Drivers causing these problems, for David or anyone else in his position, should be reported to Kirklees Licensing. It is an offence to refuse to carry a guide dog and should be treated as such. Report them.
