Team Hanson was founded by Jhovan Hanson early 2014, while studying sports development at Sheffield Hallam University.

The project first started with a single children’s kickboxing class which has now grown into multiple classes for different age groups, personal training services and organising community projects.

Team Hanson specialise in kickboxing, fitness and strength training associating this with life coaching and is dedicated and innovative in its approach, supporting each individual participant to enhance their skills, reach their goals and fulfil their potential.

It runs kickboxing and fitness classes for both children and adults throughout Huddersfield.

Team Hanson also aims to tackle a range of social issues, such as behavioural problems, anger management, lack of confidence, fitness, obesity, self belief, community involvement and bullying.

Dominic Pinnock (Co-ordinator of Community Satellite Project, CSP) said, “Jhovan has developed into a hard-working, determined and focused young man, who can help to inspire young people and adults across Kirklees, to achieve positive life outcomes”.

The Big Lottery Fund (Awards for All) decided to grant fund Team Hanson as they felt the project would be beneficial to the local community and help participants to achieve positive outcomes in their lives as well as having a positive affect on physical/mental health.

The kids kickboxing classes are Saturday afternoons 1.30pm till 2.30pm for 5-11 year olds and 11+ from 2.30-2.30pm with adults classes taking place Tuesdays 7.30-8.30pm at Nirvana Gym, Lockwood.

Additionally, Team Hanson are also planning to run summer camps for young people.

These will focus on kickboxing, multi-skills and fitness which is great for confidence-building developing respect, discipline and numerous physical activity benefits.
