HARD work and confidence surely helped England’s cricketers to their stunning Ashes victory in Australia.

Now Thongsbridge Cricket Club hopes that youngsters will be inspired by England’s 3-1 victory over Australia and pick up a bat or ball themselves.

To help inspire the new generation of young cricketers, the club wants to expand its facilities, building three new practice cages to accommodate all those who want to play.

It is a £50,000 project with the club still needing to raise some funds to provide the extra resources they are certain the club will need this spring.

The Ashes it seems still have a hold on the imaginations of many youngsters and Thongsbridge hopes that the England team’s success will encourage more youngsters to test out the sport.
