A GROUP of disabled young people cooked up some scrummy cakes for Comic Relief.

Members of the Thursday Friends, who meet at the Central Youth Club in Prospect Street, Huddersfield, spent a morning baking and decorating buns then took them to sell to staff at Kirklees Council offices across the town to raise £60 for the charity appeal.

The group for 18 to 25-year-olds meets each Thursday and is run in conjunction with Kirklees Integrated Youth Support Service.

Community recreational officer Joanne Stanley said: "The group has about 10 members at present and we would welcome more people to attend.

"The emphasis is on helping to get members into training or voluntary work with help and advice on things like independent travel, health and safety and personal development."
