Contempt from councillors
I HAVE to admit that Clr Khan has hit the nail firmly on the head when he states: “Clr Bolt is being ignorant when he says that the fortnightly bin collection is a success” (Examiner February 12).
Clr Bolt, like many Government officials, has a mindset that states: “In my opinion your opinion does not count”. How we have let these people get away with the contempt that they show us is beyond belief.
I was under the misapprehension that they are “public servants’’. These people are servants of the public, organising public work and addressing people’s problems to the benefit of their constituents and the public as a whole. Or am I wrong in this assumption?
You have only to look at our Government and the contempt that it shows towards the hard- working people of this country to realise that this contempt has now obviously filtered down to some local councillors.
It is about time the gravy train hit the buffers and these people were voted out. Local services should expand and improve. Why are ours seemingly taking backwards steps while the revenue sought increases?
