THE consultation for the controversial Local Development Framework has come to an end with both sides still poles apart.

A Kirklees Council official and councillor today insist they need to come up with a long-term plan now to build up to 26,200 homes in the area by 2028 and it is vital to earmark where they should be built to stop more land being at risk of development.

They also believe it will attract businesses and create thousands of jobs.

Those against say the predictions are based on old data, it will destroy parts of the green belt, change the character of some villages forever and it is highly unlikely a significant number of jobs will be created.

It is one of those classic cases when only time will tell which side of the argument was right.

Or will be both be partly correct in their predictions?
