IS THIS what you want the view from our Castle Hill to look like?

Remember the Castle Hill Hotel shambles? This will be much much worse as this simulated picture shows.

Kirklees Council is planning to build hundreds of houses on this site between New Laithe Hill and High Lane Newsome. This isn’t the green land near the Hall Bower cricket and rugby grounds which may be built on – this land WILL be built on unless we tell the Council NO!

Why is the Council so keen to spoil the view from Huddersfield’s most cherished area? It is council land so this makes it easier. It’s a large site in a good location so builders will find it attractive which again makes it easier.

I walk locally a lot and there are numerous small unkempt tracts of land, unused and derelict industrial sites all over this town.

They are not overlooked from local beauty spots and, frankly, could be improved with a bit of development. But this makes it harder for the council.

The council will blame the Government, and the Government will say its up to the council.

Before we know it, it will be too late.

This is our council after all.

We pay them. Write in and tell them that you don’t want them to spoil the view from Castle Hill by building here.
