FEW people will shed tears that killer David Howells has failed to win a reduction in his jail sentence.

He was the instigator of an appalling crime to murder his wife and indoctrinated the young minds of his children so that they did the killing while he played darts in the pub.

The judge summed it up rightly at his original trial: “There cannot be a much more vile thing than to get your sons to kill their mother unless it is to contemplate cheerfully their detention while you went free.”

Howells deserves all that he got – and if that means never getting out of prison, so be it.

Nobody will be sorry.
