“Remarkable change” for Kirklees College in Ofsted reports

Excellent news, and something that's as important for the town as anything else going on.

Well done to all concerned

Restaurant plan for former offices at Waterloo

Can’t believe this place been boarded up so long. I helped build Fitness First in about 1999 I think, that building was boarded up even then. Funny too because I drove past it a few weeks ago and thought about it.

Work set to start on £9m Acre Mill health centre in Lindley

This is a good idea and I hope it will lead to more development in and around KMC.

On a separate note I would like to see the end of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and go back to Kirklees NHS Trust and Calderdale NHS Trust.

Both of these together have made no cost saving benefits.

I agree in part to your second point, but make that Huddersfield NHS Trust, don't forget that Dewsbury is in the Mid Yorkshire Trust and at the moment are in a bit of a mess financially.

No cost savings? Really? Have you anything to back up the claim?

It may have been an unpopular decision but there is now only one specialist baby unit between two hospitals, presumably saving money and ensuring there are enough specialist medical staff to make the surviving unit "safer" (there is critical shortage of such specialists in the UK).

Also as the story appears to suggest, this will be an outpatient surgery for both Huddersfield and Halifax achieving another saving I guess?
