IT’S a day when people give up their time to do something for others.

The annual Examiner Charity Challenge really does bring out the best in the community and this year participants have helped to raise almost £20,000.

And it’s all in the name of charity.

Families, children and pensioners took part in a walk, bike ride, horse ride or pushed a buggy around to raise money for a good cause yesterday.

And they’re supporting local and national charities which will really benefit from the extra support, especially during difficult economic times.

It was a day where people could do something for others less fortunate, and they did themselves proud.

Well done to all who took part, and let’s hope next year is as big and raises as much money.
