WE’RE warned we’re running out of landfill sites, advised to think of the environment, about global warming, our carbon footprint and urged to recycle more or you (Joe Public) will have to pay for the amount of rubbish you throw away.

Yet in the publication we have received from Kirklees which is supposedly about a new and improved recycling service coming to our doorstep it states: No to yoghurt pots, plastic trays, polystyrene, Tetrapak milk cartons and drinks cartons.

Is Joe Public responsible for these? Surely it would be better to start at source with the manufacturers of these and have them make their packaging recyclable, and not put the onus on the public, most of whom are trying very hard to think green.
