After all these years of problems with a high volume of traffic use through the village it remains classified as a primary route, despite banning HGVs and installing traffic calming measures. Now there is mention of installing further traffic calming measures. Has it not occurred to anyone to seek to downgrade the classification of the road?

The Highways have no interest in issues like this. I have been trying four several months to get them to look at a dangerous exit in Meltham. I have been informed there has to be a accident. So we have to wait for that before action may take place.

How Kirklees Council hopes the community glass recycling changes will work as doorstep collections end
Whenever I buy a glass bottle in Holland or Germany, I’m charged a "tax" on the bottle... which is refunded when I return them. Yes I get some funny looks taking crates of empties on the ferry, but it’s a few bob each time.
It’s time we saw a return to deposits on bottles here.

In two years, I don't think they have tried to collect the glass recycling box more than 8 times at my home..... I have two full boxes that no doubt I will take myself again.

I trust the Council will remove the glass collection box from my property. As for doing the right thing, my glass will be in the grey bin. While some councillors draw over £274 an hour on the Crime Scrutiny Panel, I ain’t wasting my time and money driving to a bottle bank. The whole recycle game is a farce under this Council.
