IT would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious.

Benefit cheat Sandra Nicholl stole almost £23,000 in benefit fraud but has been allowed to pay it off at the rate of just £7 a week.

This means the debt will be with her until she’s 111 years old.

It falls into the ‘you can’t make this up’ category.

Unfortunately it’s not April 1 and we’re not making it up. She cheated the system of all this money while cash was flowing into other accounts.

Meanwhile, there are people out there in genuine need facing benefit cuts through no fault of their own.

She’s cheated the taxpayer but the taxpayer will never get that stolen money back unless, of course, Nicholl lives to a very ripe old age.
