A HOLME VALLEY village local has raked in thousands of pounds at a Harvest Home auction.

The landlords of the Scholes pub, The Boot and Shoe, said their 10-year-old daughter made one of the biggest profits of the day – selling a few flowers for more than £100.

In total, nearly £4,000 was raised and landlady, Debbie Whiteley said she was impressed with the massive sum, to be split between the West Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Scholes junior school and the play school.

She said: “I just want to say thank you to everybody. Times are hard and everybody knows they are, but they are still willing to come out and spend so much money which was raised in just four hours, which I think is phenomenal.

“People paid quite a lot of money for silly little things.

“One little girl called Rebecca Fowler bought a box of biscuits with her own pocket money then went round selling them for 50p and made £27.50.

“And our daughter, Toni-Marie went to Barnsley Market and bought 10 roses for £3 and then got on the microphone and auctioned them off for £105!”
