MEMBERS of a youth group have been doing their bit to help residents navigate the snow-filled streets of Huddersfield.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) got together to ensure the safety of their neighbours.

They cleared streets and driveways, helped motorists and the elderly.

A particularly rewarding clear-up session took place at Paddock Lodge Care Home.

There volunteers cleared and gritted the entrance to the home.

This eased accessibility to the home and prevented disruptions during the Arctic winter weather conditions.

The initiative was the latest in the group’s year-long campaign to help those in need.

They aim to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for a number of UK charities.

Kamal Aftab, AMYA youth leader for Kirklees, said: “This year marks the centenary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in the United Kingdom.

“We take great joy in the fact that we have been running these kinds of initiatives since our arrival in this great country. The Prophet Muhammad was sent as a Mercy for the whole of mankind and so we try to seek every opportunity to help others. Anyone in need of help during these hazardous conditions can count on our support.”
