A TALENTED Kirkburton teenager has raised £1,600 for charity in memory of a well-known Huddersfield performer.

Former Shelley College student Alicia Brady, 17, raised the funds at a two-hour concert at Almondbury Working Men’s Club.

Alicia, who is a professional dancer and singer, was joined by local dance group Conflict, backing dancers Sophie Emmitt and Hannah Jordan as well as other entertainers Shaun Chambers and Rebecca Lee.

They performed to a full house of 250 people at the event, which was held in memory of Huddersfield actor and dancer Andrew Spencer (inset) who died on July 6.

Andrew, 33, of Waterloo, was well-known among local performers as he was involved in many amateur societies in the area.

He was found dead at the home he shared with parents, Ray and Lesley, who have set up the Andrew Spencer Benevolent Fund in his memory.

The fund will help epilepsy sufferers. Andrew had epilepsy, but it is not known whether it caused his death.

A £500 share of the funds raised by Alicia will go to the fund, with the remaining £1,100 going to Epilepsy Action.
