TWO of Huddersfield’s best loved names joined forces in the heart of the town.

Football ambassador Andy Booth performed the official opening ceremony for the Huddersfield Daily Examiner’s new town centre offices.

Andy, Examiner editor Roy Wright and town crier Vic Watson, met readers at the offices which overlook St George’s Square.

And there were free buns and goody bags for everyone who came along to enjoy the event.

The new public office will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm for customers to place advertisements, buy Examiner photos and book excursions and holidays.

There is also a ‘hotline’ so callers can contact the rest of the newspaper staff, including the editorial and advertising departments, who have moved from their Queen Street South offices to the Pennine Business Park at Bradley.

Examiner editor Roy Wright said: “It’s great for the Examiner to have a presence in the town centre once again, especially in such a prestigious setting looking on to award-winning St George’s Square.”
