A man injured during a shooting in Fartown appeared in court accused of threatening behaviour.

Jonathan Scoon, of Wesley Road in Leeds, appeared before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Robert Campbell said that he was caught up in an incident at Bradford Road on June 8.

On that date armed police swooped on the area after the sound of gunshots was reported.

A total of 11 men have since been arrested and bailed in connection with the shooting.

Mr Campbell said that Scoon was involved in the disturbance and was assaulted.

He said that he smashed a brandy bottle and armed himself with it as a weapon.

The 33-year-old denies an allegation of affray.

District Judge Roger Lowe told him that the case was too serious to be dealt with by magistrates.

He committed Scoon to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court, where he will first appear on September 26.

Unconditional bail was granted.
