A landscape photographer is staging an exhibition in a Marsden cafe.

David Lawton’s exhibition opened yesterday at A Month of Sundaes on Peel Street and will continue until New Year’s Eve – and is, in effect, full circle for him.

For when David, of Meltham, started out in photography four years ago Month of Sundaes owner Tracey Wagner urged him to put an exhibition on at the cafe – and David sold every photo.

He is now professional, trading under the name Sunset Stories, and even has a wall of pictures for sale at a huge department store in Oldham called The Housing Units, along with other retail outlets from the Lake District to York and Nottingham.

His speciality is photographs of exploding lights and he revealed a trick of the trade.

“I have about 30 of these now,” he said. “They are images of Christmas lights in a garden at Netherthong and I took the photos at a slow shutter speed. The kids call the one pictured here Little Bang.”

David and wife Liz have two children, 14-year-old Abigail and 13-year-old Tom.
