A company is helping fire up the imaginations of youngsters during the summer holiday.

Children who attend Crafty Kids play centre at Denby Dale are being encouraged to think inside – and outside – the box.

Huddersfield business Fireplace World, of St Thomas’s Road, Longroyd Bridge, is helping to spark new play ideas by donating large cardboard boxes to the centre.

The company is hoping the children, aged up to eight years old, will turn them into objects of fun and fantasy.

Qualified senior nursery nurse Jessica Wood has opened Crafty Kids in Springfield Mills this year as a fun place for families and friends to meet and spend time with their children.

“We provide all the resources and materials for your little ones to get crafty with. They can then take home whatever they make,” she said.

The boxes donated by Fireplace World are already proving a big success. They have been transformed into everything from race cars to pirate ships to castles.
