Australia's most fun and colourful stationery retailer, Smiggle, is set to open in Huddersfield on Friday (August 26).
Smiggle – which claims to make heading back to school a giggle – first came to this country in February, 2014, and Huddersfield will be the rapidly-expanding brand’s 69th UK store.
The bold and bright new shop at Kingsgate is promising special giveaways and offers for the launch.
Smiggle specialises in “original, fun and affordable” stationery and claims to be the place to be for essentials to start the school year in style.
It already has stores at Sheffield’s Meadowhall and at the White Rose Centre and Trinity Shopping Centre in Leeds.
The chain opened a store in Manchester last year and it was greeted by “Smiggle Mania”.
Its offerings will be brought to life for Huddersfield consumers, with promises of bright backpacks, pencil cases, scented stationery and lots of other goodies to deck out desks.
Managing director of Smiggle, John Cheston, says: “We’re thrilled to be opening our 69th store here in Huddersfield. There really is nothing like Smiggle anywhere else on the high street – and it will be great to see the public’s reaction when the doors open.
“It’s important for us to inject fun into everything we do – from product design to store design, we will always focus on delivering to our fans the most original and playful stationery possible. We at Smiggle know how important it is to have the right tools to start the school year in style.”
The first Smiggle store opened in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003. It expanded into New Zealand in 2008 and to Singapore in 2011. It also has stores in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
