He's been part of Emmerdale for 20 years — but Andy Sugden fans were rocked by rumours the long-term star could be saying goodbye to the TV village.

The Sun reported that actor Kelvin Fletcher was quitting the role to become a rally driver, weeks after celebrating his 20th anniversary on the ITV soap.

The report said Kelvin, who first joined the show in 1996, was expecting his first child with wife Liz Marsland.

But Andy fans will be intrigued to know the rumour has been addressed — by Kelvin himself.

The 32-year-old tweeted: Leaving Emmerdale to become a rally driver? First I've heard.

"Although I do know one thing; there's some BIG surprises coming #Emmerdale."

While the tweet rubbishes the story, it doesn't rule out a Andy Sugden exit... viewers will have to stay tuned to see what's in the pipeline.
