If you're a Game of Thrones fan, you've probably learned by now not to get too attached to any of the characters.

At any given moment, the show kills off key figures without a second thought — from Ned Stark's undeserved death in season one, to the horror of the Red Wedding, the schadenfreude of Joffrey's choking to death in the Purple Wedding, and the oh-my-god-did-they-just-do-that murder of Jon Snow in the finale of season five.

With season six beginning on Monday, April 25, the Examiner data unit has taken a look at the characters in the TV show responsible for the most bloodshed.

While some are clear front runners, others may surprise you...

Top 10 killers in Game of Thrones

10. Grey Worm — 13 kills

Grey Worm has done well to make the top ten, considering the little time he's been the show. Then again, he is a soldier, and one stuck in a society split into supporters of Daenerys Targaryen and well, everyone else, and trouble is kicking off left right and centre. Makes sense he's had to stab a few folk to stay alive.

9. Ygritte — 14 kills

This girl had wicked aim — and dispatched a fair few folk with her bow and arrow as part of the Wildling clan. She fought nobly in the battle at the Wall, but sadly met her end while attacking Castle Black. Olly, her killer, later went on to murder her lover too.

8. Barristan Selmy — 16 kills

It still feels too soon to talk about brave, loyal Barristan Selmy. He came to the rescue when Grey Worm and the Unsullied were ambushed by the Sons of the Harpy, hence his inclusion in this chart — but his rescue mission cost him his life.

7. Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane — 18 kills

Of course the Hound is in the top 10, he's basically a hired killer. He's been on a killing spree since season one, ever loyal to his master, Joffrey, and killing a few men in tournaments, trials by combat and in the Battle of Blackwater. Not a man you want to mess with.

6. Jon Snow — 21 kills

Another painful entry — the now dead Jon Snow, faithful servant of the Night's Watch, Lord Commander (for all of one season) and betrayed brother. His scrapes with the Wildlings and during several battles defending the Wall mean it's no surprise he's one of the show's top killers. He even executed Janos Slynt!

5. A tie between Tormund Giantsbane — 22 kills

Well, you can't lead the Free Folk without having to fight a few battles, and Tormund has charged into some ferocious ones, including the Battle of Castle Black and the terrifying Massacre at Hardhome against the White Walkers and undead Wights. And considering he's gone back to defend Castle Black with the Nght's Watch, he's bound to be swinging his sword again this season.

and Drogon — 22 kills

Of course a dragon is in the top 10. Drogon, one of Daenerys' three dragons, probably racked up his 22 kills by burning people alive or eating them, as dragons are wont to do. Saying that, no one complains when torched slave master Kraznys in Astapor. Good dragon.

and Daario Naharis — also 22 kills

Not only has Daario got looks to kill (fnar, fnar), he's also a pretty efficient sellsword, skilled in dispatching solders and other enemies. Now he's protecting Daenerys — and she has enough enemies to keep him busy — and his kill count high.

2. Bronn — 24 kills

In second place, everyone's favourite selllsword (and the token Yorkshire accent in the show), Bronn. And while he may be charming, he's also deadly, getting Tyrion Lannister out of a few scrapes and fighting valiantly in the Battle of the Blackwater. He survived a poisoning in Dorne and saved Jaime Lannister from Dornish guards — he's a useful friend to have.

1. Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun the Giant — 26 kills

In first place, and with a rather obvious advantage in the killing stakes, it's Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun, star of the Massacre at Hardhome and able to kill off men in droves with a single foot stomp of swing of his gigantic arms. Touche, Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun.
