There are many beautiful cities in the world, but none of them are quite like Paris. Flights are available from all over the UK, and are exceedingly good value. Head for this iconic capital and see why people love it so much.

Millions of people in the UK head abroad every year, for work, for holidays or for short visits. We enjoy the theme parks of Florida, the beaches of Spain and the nightspots of Amsterdam, and a whole host of other wonderful places. City breaks, sun-kissed vacations and business trips take us all over the world, but when it comes to a romantic destination, there really is only one place to go.

Paris is rightly known throughout the world as the City of Love. It’s a truly beautiful and iconic place, with a unique atmosphere. Wide, tree-lined boulevards evoke a sense of grandeur and elegance, and are home to majestic art galleries and museums, classy boutiques and some of the finest restaurants to be found anywhere. Most visitors return again and again, and still find hidden delights all over the metropolis.

With a history dating back many thousands of years, Paris has a rich heritage. Some of the most famous landmarks in Europe are found there, including the stunning Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Musée du Louvre, perhaps the most celebrated art gallery in the world. For a wonderful way to spend an hour or two, take a stroll along the sumptuous Champs-Élysées and enjoy the sights.

Or spend an afternoon and evening in Montmartre, the bohemian district located in the north of the city. Once home to artists such as Picasso, Dali, Monet and Van Gogh, it retains a cosmopolitan atmosphere which has to be sampled. The fascinating little shops and bars are unlike any others in Paris, and as the night draws in, the area comes alive with colour.

Those who live in the UK are fortunate to be so close to Paris. Flights are available from several British airports, and of course the trip is a remarkably short one. By the time you’ve settled into your seat on the plane, it will almost be time to land, in fact.

There are two major international airports that serve Paris. Orly is to the south of the city, and has regular flights from London City and Southampton. It was opened in 1932 and now handles mainly domestic and European passengers, although there are some transatlantic ones, too.

Charles de Gaulle Airport handles more than 60 million passengers every year and has flights to and from a whole host of British destinations. Anyone living near London can reach Paris from Heathrow and Luton. While others can fly from Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton.

The city break has become more and more popular in recent years, thanks to the relatively low cost of air travel. While every major European destination has something to offer, nowhere can match the magnificence and spectacular beauty of Paris. Flights are easy to find and remarkably cheap, so head for the capital of romance this year.
