For those people with large properties, the thought of cutting the lawn with a traditional lawn mower can seem torturous. However, ride on lawn mowers provide an excellent way to take the hassle out of cutting and maintaining large grass areas. Many companies produce ride on lawn mowers for commercial as well private use, including Honda and Hayter.

While ride on lawn mowers can be an excellent way of cutting large grass areas, there are a few things to bear in mind before use. Ride on lawn mowers should only be used by an adult with a certain amount of previous experience and should never be left running unattended. Using a ride on lawn mower on steep hilly areas should only be done with a fair amount of caution and the driver should take care not to run over any large rocks or branches or other obstacles.

Their is slightly more maintenance on a ride on lawn mower as compared to a standard petrol or electric version. The blades need to be checked regularly, as well as oiled and cleaned of any grass or dirt that may hamper their movement. They should also be sharpened every year and replaced every two years. Of course as with any motor based machine, the engine will need to be checked fairly regularly and items such as spark plugs may need to be replaced on a frequent basis, along with regular oil changes.

The two other components on a ride on lawn mower that deserve particular attention are the tyres and batteries. The battery fluid levels should be checked before every session and the tyres should be looked at every year to make sure the rubber hasn't deteriorated and a new set is needed.

We hope this has given you a good idea of what you need to run and maintain a ride on lawn mower!
