REGISTERING to vote by September 10 gives local electors the chance to win £1,000 in a prize draw.
The draw can be entered by completing and returning the 2008 Register of Electors form which will drop through letterboxes in August.
Registering early can also help Kirklees Council save money and protect the environment as costly reminder letters will not be necessary.
The names of all people eligible to vote living at each address should be listed on the form, then signed and returned in the envelope provided.
A council spokesman said: “If there are no changes to the household details please use the Freephone or website options to register to vote.
Details of the Freephone number and website are on the form.
“Even if you don’t intend to vote the information on the form is required by law.
“You also need to be on the electoral register to get credit, apply for a bank or building society account, loan or mortgage, get hire purchase, apply for a store card or catalogue or buy a mobile phone.
“If you don’t register you may have problems applying for any of these.”
People who need more information or help to complete the form, should call Electoral Services on 01484 222400 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
