A SAILING club has been given a £10,000 boost.

The Pennine Sailing Club were awarded the grant from Sport England.

It will be used to purchase two new two-man dinghies for training and the club will be contributing a further £5,000 to buy the boats.

It means the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accredited training centre and can offer dinghy sailing courses for all abilities, as well as powerboat and first aid courses.

And their first open day is on Sunday where there will be an opportunity to take to the water with experienced members.

Sailing dinghies will be on display and visitors will have an opportunity to chat to the sailors about the sport and the club in general.

If you’re interested go along between midday and 4pm and anyone wanting to try sailing is asked to bring a change of clothes, a waterproof or windproof top and some old shoes.

The sailing club is based at Winscar Reservoir, Dunford Bridge.
