LOTTERY bosses have given £10,000 to Huddersfield's Irish Centre towards a new minibus.

The centre's four junior gaelic football teams need to raise £23,000 for the vehicle.

Secretary Olly Walsh said he was delighted with the award: "It's excellent to be given this cheque.

"The teams travel to Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and even London to play so transport is very important."

And he said gaelic football is no longer confined to Huddersfield's Irish community.

"We have kids from Poland, Asia and the Carribean in our teams. There's a great camaraderie in gaelic football and it's a fast, exciting game."

The centre recently held an Irish food and music night to raise more cash.
