TWO women are leaving behind the pressures of work and heading into the desert – for a 100km trek.

Catherine Dinsmore and Gail Bateman will spend five days trekking through the Arabian Desert.

They will start at the Dead Sea and finish at the city of Petra as part of the Let’s Trek For Children cause which works with sick and disadvantaged children.

The duo, who both work for Marshalls in Elland, will brave temperatures of between 25°C and 40°C during the day and freezing at night.

Catherine, of Mount, said: “We wanted a challenge and to do something different.

“It will be very tough – we’ve been training since October but we never expected our winter to be so bad so we really had to motivate ourselves.”

Catherine and Gail have already raised £6,338 for the charity through car boot sales and race nights.
