A woman who has spent her entire life living in Marsden has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Miss Annie Carter, who now lives at Wessen Court, was joined by 70 friends and relatives from across the UK and from France for her birthday celebrations.
She worked in the Colne Valley textile industry for many years, starting as a mender at the John Edward Crowther mills in Bank Bottom, Marsden, and then spending many years at Elon Crowthers, in Slaithwaite.
Miss Carter was a keen sportswoman in her younger days and played for Marsden Tennis Club.
She also devoted many years to amateur dramatics and was a veteran of countless productions by the former Marsden Congregational Church AODS, taking a number of leading roles.
She also worked with local Gilbert and Sullivan societies on several productions.
Her nephew, John Cockin, said: “She is still full of life and really enjoyed her birthday party”.
