VANDALS and arsonists have left an £11,000 trail of damage at a Deighton school.

Several windows were smashed at Christ Church Woodhouse Nursery, Infant and Junior School on Deighton Road before a shed, used to store toys, was set alight at 6.30pm yesterday.

The blaze destroyed the shed and flames spread to a nearby portable building used as a nursery. A corner of it was damaged and the building was filled with smoke. Smoke also got into the school.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees Police intelligence unit, said: "Those responsible would have been on the school premises for a while.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw them, or may have spotted them running away.

"They may have even boasted to friends about what they'd done."
