A fraudster who posed as a heating engineer to try and get inside homes in Mirfield has been jailed for 12 months.

John Foggo arrived in a van he had borrowed and carried a toolbox when he approached householders on two days in July pretending to need access.

But Jeremy Lindsay, prosecuting, told Leeds Crown Court those who responded did not fall for his story and most contacted the authorities, leaving Foggo empty-handed.

Khaleeq Zaman, for Foggo, said it had been his amateurish and foolish way of gaining access. Foggo was a long-term drug addict.

Foggo, 32 of Old Bank Road, Mirfield, admitted six charges of fraud with four offences taken into consideration .
