PLANS for 147 homes have been brought a step nearer.
Councillors backed design details for the new housing estate at Crosslee, off Brighouse Road in Hipperholme.
Calderdale councillors gave the green light to the blueprint for the houses, which already had outline planning permission.
The applicant, Persimmon Homes and Crosslee Plc, want to build five five-bedroom houses; 47 four-bedroom; 20 three-bedroom detached; 60 three-bedroom semi-detached and terraced and 15 two-bedroom homes.
In total there would be 13 different housing styles. Some will have internal garages and three different types of brick will be used.
A dry stone boundary wall will be rebuilt and the footway to Spout House Lane and St Giles Road will be widened.
The developer has agreed to contribute £100,000 towards Calderdale’s schools and £20,000 for bus stops to serve the site.
Residents did raise concerns about the site, saying traffic was a major issue. They also said that they were worried about the lack of school places to cope with any increased demand.
Councillors backed the design and the application will now return to the committee for full permission.
