A YOUTH of 15 was appearing in court today accused of murdering a 16-year-old.

Grant Kevin Douglas died from stab wounds in the Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax, after a late-night incident.

The incident came on Friday night in Bracewell Bank, a street in the Ovenden area of Halifax, say West Yorkshire Police.

The 15-year-old boy, from Illingworth in Halifax, was arrested shortly afterwards and yesterday was charged with murder.

He was appearing before magistrates in Halifax.

The victim's mother, Beverly Douglas, from the Wheatley area of Halifax, said in a statement: "Grant was an outgoing and popular lad and a talented footballer. He had just completed work experience and was due to enrol at building college next week.

"This whole episode has completely devastated the family and we do not know how we will come to terms with his death."
