A 15-YEAR-OLD youth today stands accused of killing a popular footballer.

The teenager has been charged with the manslaughter of 22-year-old Ross Wood (pictured). He was due to appear before Dewsbury Youth Court today.

It can also be revealed today that the youth, who lives in Mirfield, has also been charged with breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.

An 18-year-old from Mirfield has already been charged in connection with the same incident at Huddersfield Road in Mirfield just after midnight on Saturday morning. He was accused of affray.

Ross suffered severe head injuries and was transferred from Dewsbury District Hospital to Leeds General Infirmary for specialist surgery, but died there shortly before midnight on Monday.

His grieving family – parents Steve and Sam, and sisters Leanne, 23, and Ashlea, 19 – have been left totally devastated.
