A TYRE slasher attacked at least 17 vehicles on a night-time spree.

Police have had reports of 17 motor vehicles in the Meltham area having their tyres cut early on Sunday.

The route taken by the vandal either started or finished in Westgate, at the junction of Greens End, and included New Street.

The trail then took a right turn towards Station Street, where the car park at Morrison's supermarket was targeted.

Then vehicles were attacked in Mean Lane, towards Heys Crescent, then the attacker went on to Broadlands towards Helme Lane, where the trail of destruction stopped.

Sgt Steve Holberry said: "This appears to be an unprovoked attack with no motive other than malice by someone who is obviously anti–social in the extreme and has no respect for the property and quality of life of others.

"Whoever is responsible for this does not deserve any loyalty from friends or others.

"I would encourage anyone who has any information to contact the police on 01484 436896.

"Alternatively, a reward may be paid for information about any crime - including these incidents - by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Information can be given anonymously."
