ABOUT £170,000 of cannabis was seized in a raid on a Huddersfield industrial unit.

Following a tip-off from a member of the public, officers from The Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a drugs warrants at an industrial unit at Rock Mills, off New Mill Road, in Brockholes, on Thursday.

They uncovered more than 150 plants and dismantled growing equipment.

Police have yet to make any arrests, but say they are following up positive lines of inquiry.

The raid came as police reported record seizures of cannabis across the UK this year.

In West Yorkshire, the value of cannabis plants recovered from factories has topped £17m.

A MAN was arrested after Class A drugs with an estimated street value of £80,000 were seized from a house in Aberdeen.

Steven Harman, 23, from Huddersfield, appeared yesterday at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged with being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs in the city on October 29.

Harman, whose exact address is unknown, was remanded in custody and will appear again at Aberdeen on November 6.
