A poppy artwork installation at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park proved massively popular on its opening weekend.

But now Park staff have urged people to plan their visits to avoid busy times.

More than 20,000 people visited the parkland in West Bretton to see the stunning – and moving – Wave sculpture, part of the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red artwork that wowed the crowds at the Tower of London.

Between August and November last year, the 888,246 poppies were displayed at the Tower, one to honour every British or Colonial soldier killed in the First World War.

Part of the installation, called Wave, will be on show at the sculpture park until January.

Staff at the sculpture park are keen for as many people as possible to see the artwork but suggest avoiding weekends when it is likely to be at its busiest.
