FREEMASONS have donated £2,500 to four local groups.

Money has been donated to three scout groups and the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.

Freemasons master Mike Steele said: “We picked the three scout groups because we have all at some point been involved with the work the scouts do and would like to support them.

“I have also been involved with the mountain rescue team and I think they are a very worthwhile organisation that needs our support in terms of charitable donations.”

The money has come from the Provincial Grand Masters Fund as well as from the Huddersfield Freemasons’ own fund.

Scout groups in Crosland Hill, Clayton West and Golcar will benefit from the money.

A presentation was made to representatives of all of the groups at Greenhead Masonic Hall.
