A WARD at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary has undergone a £2m revamp.
Workmen have spent 20 weeks renovating ward 10 for bowel surgery patients.
The aim has been to give patients greater privacy during their recovery in the new-look ward.
It now features 10 single rooms offering en-suite facilities, two four-bedded bays and one two-bedded bay.
Kathy Clune, Ward sister, said: “We are pleased to be moving back to ward 10 where our patients will be cared for in a modern, bright and comfortable environment.
“These new modern facilities will also ensure the patients are provided with greater privacy during their recovery period.”
The upgrade includes the latest features to stop the spread of infections.
These include hand basins with non-touch taps and non-porous wall coverings, which are easier to clean.
Dr David Wise, divisional director of surgery, said: “The newly refurbished ward 10 is an excellent addition to the surgical division and will be of enormous benefit to the patients who are treated here.”
