THREE men have been charged in connection with a sex attack near Huddersfield town centre.

They were arrested after a 24-year-old woman alleged she had been seriously sexually assaulted in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Newsome.

Police had sealed off banking close to the River Colne next to King’s Bridge at the bottom of Newsome Road and a section of canal towpath near Huddersfield University’s Lockside and Canalside buildings.

The three men who were arrested are aged 26, 22 and 21.

All three were due before Huddersfield magistrates today.
