The large crowd assembled at Market Cross to listen to speeches – including a message direct from Gaza – and join a march around the town centre.
Organiser June Jones said: “This is by the far the biggest rally we’ve seen in Huddersfield in a long, long time.
“Huddersfield’s Muslim community turned up to show their anger at what’s going on. It’s so blatantly criminal what’s going on – it’s absolutely wicked, everybody recognises it.
“While Palestine is under the heal of Israel nobody can be free in the Middle East.”
More than £1,000 was collected by demonstrators which will be donated to charity Medical Aid for Palestine.
Another protest is being held at 5pm Dewsbury Town Hall today.
