A SKIP hire boss was fined £3,000 and ordered to do a 200-hour community penalty order over dumped waste on a playing field.

Officials from the Environment Agency were alerted after a call about the rubbish at the back of Springfield Road, Elland.

David Turner, of Backhold Lane, Siddal, Halifax, was found guilty at the end of a three-day hearing before Calder- dale magistrates in Halifax.

He was also ordered to pay £7,300 costs.

Turner had denied knowingly causing the deposit of controlled waste.

He also denied failing to produce documents relating to the transfer of waste.

The court was told that Turner had since sold his DT Services business.
